We all have an important role to play in closing the jobs-housing gap. This Housing Toolkit provides a variety of tools—many already in use throughout the County—for governments, major employers, and residents to contribute to housing solutions.

When new housing is proposed, parking and congestion are common local concerns. Communities around the Bay Area are exploring new approaches to alleviating these issues, including building new housing to bring people closer to their jobs. 

Recent years have brought record high temperatures, wildfires, and rising sea levels to our San Mateo County communities. The impacts from these hazards not only affect the region’s existing housing stock, but also led to concerns about new and proposed housing.

When more people understand the true root causes of homelessness, effective solutions come into focus.
