Community Conversations – Housing in San Mateo

Let’s Talk San Mateo!

How is the issue of housing affecting you and those you care about? Join us for a different type of dialogue about housing in our community.

“Community Conversations: Housing in San Mateo” is a joint effort between the City and Home for All, a San Mateo County collaborative, aimed at helping our community talk more constructively about the shared challenge of housing. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment for dialogue where all people are welcome to share their perspectives. This effort starts with you!

Help us reach as many people as possible in San Mateo, especially those who have not been part of housing conversations in the past.

The first of two community conversations will take place the morning ofSaturday, April 27 at San Mateo High School. This event will help shape the second conversation on May 18. There will be free childcare, food and Spanish translation at both events.

These conversations will use a different format than the meetings the City typically hosts. The goal is for community members to talk and listen to each other, as well as share stories and ideas. City staff and elected officials will be present only as listeners. Please join us and bring a friend!

Although these discussions aren’t part of a specific project or the General Plan update, our community’s perspectives will be especially helpful as the City evaluates future housing-related policies.

• Date/Time: Saturday, April 27, 2019. Doors open at 9 a.m. for breakfast and childcare with the discussion to follow from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
• Location: San Mateo High School, 506 N. Delaware Street, multi-purpose room (located in the Music/Shop Building)
• Parking is free and available in the main lot, which is accessiblefrom Delaware Street.
